The Klinkers concert is staged on the inner court of “Gruuthuse” city palace in the historical city centre of Bruges.

The last time Gavin Friday played Bruges was July 13, 1996 when he headlined the Cactus Festival. Festival director Patrick Keersebilck picked Gavin performance among his personal highlights and remembers it as follows: “One of the most beautiful concerts at Cactus, if you ask me. In a way Gavin Friday’s performance personified the identity of our festival.”

In the event of rain being forecast the ‘KLINKERS INTIEM’ concerts will be held in the City Theatre. If the pay-at-the-gate concerts, as planned, are held in the Gruuthuse, there will be an extra 300 seats available. The tickets for those seats can only be bought at the box office of the Gruuthuse itself (open from 7.30 pm onwards, on the day of the concert).

“Anton Corbijn Inside Out” is an intimate and revealing portrait of an influential artist and the result of almost four years of filming by Quirijns. The documentary features appearances by many of the artists Corbijn has worked with including Lou Reed, George Clooney, U2, Metallica and Depeche Mode.

Quirijns calls Corbijn “the kingmaker of the modern gods, the way he has defined the image of the likes of U2 and Depeche Mode and has given them the face that the public has come to know.”

The score for “Anton Corbijn Inside Out” was composed by by Gavin Friday, with Jolyon Vaughan Thomas and additional composition by Herbie Macken. Quirijns and Corbijn had approached Gavin when he played at the Crossing Border festival in The Hague late 2011 to request his involvement:

Gavin Friday: “Corbijn’s work first hit me in the head via the infamous Joy Division NME cover in the late ’70′s. His photographs and his masterful expressionistic videos were for me as poignant and as important as the music and the bands and artists he worked with.

“I first met Anton in the early 1980′s and immediately bonded with the ‘Long Man from the Lowlands’. He became a very good friend. Earlier this year we composed the score for Klaartje Quirijns’ intimate ‘fly on the wall’ documentary “Inside Out”.

“It’s a beautiful and honest film showing Anton as he is rarely seen: at work, alone and with his family, a very quietly poignant and moving portrait. Hopefully we captured some of the essence of this great man in our music.”

The 80-minute documentary premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2012 and is on general release in The Netherlands from March 22.

Gavin has also recently been involved with Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s film “This Must Be The Place” (starring Sean Penn, Frances McDormand and Eve Hewson). The soundtrack of the movie features Gavin Friday’s song “Lord I’m Coming”. “This Must Be The Place” is released in Ireland on March 23 and April 6 in the UK.

WholeWorldBand app is an interactive tool for iPhone 4/4s and iPad2 created by former 10CC man (and director of Gavin’s ‘Able’ video) Kevin Godley and Andy Wood of Hypergallery and Cubic Motion.

The app lets you create music with other musicians and music fans around the world in both sound and pictures. WholeWorldBand app will be available to download from the iTunes store from March 2012.

Musicians and music fans from all over the world will be able to contribute and combine a selection of video performances, including their own, from the WholeWorldBand library to create their own favourite band line-up. And they will also have the opportunity to earn money from their performance.

Kevin Godley said “WholeWorldBand is a revolutionary new online music tool that provides a new platform for distribution while offering the opportunity of new revenue streams for up and coming and established musicians and bands and, in fact, anyone.”

New Dublin Voices will take to the stage again to perform some contemporary classics, preparing the way for two of Ireland’s most exciting bands: I Draw Slow and Prison Love.

I Draw Slow is a five-piece group comprised of vocals, guitar, fiddle, banjo and double bass. The five have created a new sound, rooted in the old time style of the Appalachian Mountains. Drawing on Irish traditional music and modern Americana, they tell dark tales of debauchery and trouble.
Prison Love formed late one night round a campfire in a field just the other side of Dunmore East in 2001. Their passion for bluegrass, old-time, gospel and Cajun music has been enjoyed at major festivals all across the country, Europe and in the US.
