The video for Gavin Friday’s song Able, directed by Kevin Godley and produced by Ned O’Hanlon has been nominated for an Irish Music Television (IMTV) Video Music Award in the category ‘Best Male’.
Winners will be announced at the IMTV Awards 2011 on Wednesday, 30th November at the Sugar Club in Dublin, Ireland.
As reported here earlier this year, Gavin and Maurice are nominated in the Ivor Novello Awards 2003 for the In America score. The nominations were officially announced this week.
The 49th presentation of the Ivor Novello Awards for British songwriters, composers and music publishers presented by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters in association with The Performing Right Society will be held at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London W1 on Thursday 27th May 2004.
Gavin and Maurice’s score for Jim Sheridan’s ‘In America’ has been nominated for an Ivor Novello award. The awards ceremony will take place in London in May this year.
The IVORS are internationally respected as the premier award ceremony to reflect the talent of British songwriters and composers and their contribution as the creative source of the music industry’s prosperity.
The event is presented by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters in association with the Performing Right Society.

GAVIN FRIDAY was at a special dinner thrown in his honour by the Irish Hospice Foundation on Friday night at the Shelbourne Hotel. The special dinner was to thank Gavin for all his hard work on the Peter And The Wolf CD and book which was sold to raise money for the Foundation. My spy said: “Although Bono did the artwork, Gavin brought him on board after he decided to make the CD for the foundation. “Gavin was the major force behind the project so the foundation just wanted to thank him for what he did. “Bono, The Edge, Adam and Larry from U2 were there as well to give their pal a big round of applause.”
The 61st annual Golden Globe awards are held in L.A. this Sunday, January 25th. Gavin, Maurice and Bono are nominated in the Best Original Song category. USA viewers can see the show live on NBC, from 8.00 pm Eastern.
“Time Enough For Tears” has been nominated in the best Original Song category of the 61st Annual Golden Globe Awards. The film In America was also nominated for best Screenplay. The awards ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on January 25, 2004. (source: GF)

Jim Sheridan’s film The Boxer and leading man Daniel Day-Lewis have been nominated for the Golden Globe Awards.
