				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Gavin Friday has recorded vocals for <strong>the song &#8220;Kangaroo&#8221; by Big Star (Alex Chilton)</strong> on the compilation album &#8220;Why hast Thou forsaken me&#8221; by Universal Daughters.</p>
<p>The band Universal Daughters, put together for the project, includes among others Mike Patton’s guitarist Alessandro &#8220;Asso&#8221; Stefana, Mamuthones’ drummer Maurizio Boldrin and members of Verdena (one of Italy’s most notorious rock groups). The album was produced by Marco Fasolo of Jennifer Gentle (Sub Pop Records), assisted by French multi-instrumentalist Jean-Charles Carbone.</p>
<p>A tribute to mostly Anglo-American songs from the 20’s to the 70’s, the album a fund-raiser for Città della Speranza, an organisation that aides sick children.</p>
<p>Other vocalists on the album are Jarvis Cocker, Chris Robinson (Black Crowes) Alan Vega (Suicide), Jerry &#8220;Swamp Dogg&#8221; Williams, Lisa Germano, Baby Dee, Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate), Mick Collins (The Dirtbombs), Stan Ridgway (Wall of Voodoo) and Mark Arm (Mudhoney).</p>
<p><strong>&#8216;Why hast Thou forsaken me&#8217; is out on Santeria in Italy on April 19th and on Rough Trade records in the UK and Europe in September.</strong></p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Blood Rising, the documentary film featuring artist Brian Maguire, directed by Mark McLoughlin and scored by Gavin Friday premiered at the Savoy Cinema Dublin, the closing weekend of the Jameson Dublin Film Festival, on Sunday 24 February.</p>
<p>The original score for Blood Rising was written, arranged and produced by Gavin Friday, performed by Kate Ellis (cello) and Robson Rocha (guitars) and mixed by Michael Heffernan.</p>
<p>Irish President Michael D. Higgins and the cast as well as Mexican human rights defender <a href="http://www.frontlinedefenders.org/node/21695">Elia Escobedo Garcia</a> from the film &#8216;Blood Rising&#8217; attended the screening of the documentary which follows Irish artist Brian Maguire&#8217;s work with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_homicides_in_Ciudad_Ju%C3%A1rez">femicide victims</a> in Mexico.</p>

Friday and Kelly will be joined by Camille O&#8217;Sullivan for an intimate and informal evening of music, conversation and song, celebrating Ireland&#8217;s capital city, its cultural achievements and its unique character. A Capital Idea will take place at the Odessa Club on October 10th.</p>

<p>The show is scheduled at Klub Wytwórnia at on October 27th, at 7pm.</p>
