As reported here earlier this year, Gavin and Maurice are nominated in the Ivor Novello Awards 2003 for the In America score. The nominations were officially announced this week.
The 49th presentation of the Ivor Novello Awards for British songwriters, composers and music publishers presented by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters in association with The Performing Right Society will be held at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London W1 on Thursday 27th May 2004.
Gavin and Maurice’s score for Jim Sheridan’s ‘In America’ has been nominated for an Ivor Novello award. The awards ceremony will take place in London in May this year.
The IVORS are internationally respected as the premier award ceremony to reflect the talent of British songwriters and composers and their contribution as the creative source of the music industry’s prosperity.
The event is presented by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters in association with the Performing Right Society.
The 61st annual Golden Globe awards are held in L.A. this Sunday, January 25th. Gavin, Maurice and Bono are nominated in the Best Original Song category. USA viewers can see the show live on NBC, from 8.00 pm Eastern.

“Time Enough For Tears”, written by Bono/Friday/Seezer and available on the In America soundtrack, has been nominated in Best Song Category of the BFCA Critics’ Choice Awards. The film In America received a total of seven nominations.
Gavin is nominated in the Best Irish Solo Male category of the 2002 Meteor Ireland Music Awards. The awards are held tonight in the Point Depot in Dublin.
Jim Sheridan’s film The Boxer and leading man Daniel Day-Lewis have been nominated for the Golden Globe Awards.
Gavin, Maurice and Bono’s song In the Name of the Father is nominated for a best song award at the Ivor Novello Awards.
Gavin is rumoured to be arranging the song ‘Dreamin’ my Dreams’ for Marianne Faithful and Dolores O’Riordan – to be released for an Aids benefit. Van Morrison will produce.
The upcoming Batman Forever Soundtrack includes Iggy Pop’s ‘The Passenger’ – sung by Michael Hutchence and Gavin. The song is arranged by Gavin and Maurice and produced by Tim Simenon.
