WholeWorldBand app is an interactive tool for iPhone 4/4s and iPad2 created by former 10CC man (and director of Gavin’s ‘Able’ video) Kevin Godley and Andy Wood of Hypergallery and Cubic Motion.

The app lets you create music with other musicians and music fans around the world in both sound and pictures. WholeWorldBand app will be available to download from the iTunes store from March 2012.

Musicians and music fans from all over the world will be able to contribute and combine a selection of video performances, including their own, from the WholeWorldBand library to create their own favourite band line-up. And they will also have the opportunity to earn money from their performance.

Kevin Godley said “WholeWorldBand is a revolutionary new online music tool that provides a new platform for distribution while offering the opportunity of new revenue streams for up and coming and established musicians and bands and, in fact, anyone.”

The proceeds will benefit the Irish Cancer Society at Ronnie Drew’s request. The track will be available in Ireland only as a download on Friday, February 22 and week later on CD.

The song was written by Bono, The Edge, Simon Carmody and Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, and features appearances by Kila, the Pogues’ Shane MacGowan, the Frames’ Glen Hansard, Sinead O’Connor, Andrea Corr, Damien Dempsey, Ronan Keating, Chris de Burgh, members of the Dubliners, and Gavin Friday.
