Gavin Friday, Ute Lemper, Blixa Bargeld, Meow Meow, Camille O’Sullivan perform Bertolt Brecht Songs And Poems in Dublin this Autumn

GAVIN FRIDAY, Ute Lemper, Blixa Bargeld, Meow Meow, Camille O’Sullivan perform the songs and poems of Bertolt Brecht in NCH’s Perspectives: CHANGE THE WORLD series. “Bertolt Brecht Songs And Poems For 2019”, a re-imagining of Bertolt Brecht’s work will take place at The National Concert Hall in Dublin on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th September 2019. Tickets go on sale Monday 1st of July at 10AM.

Social and economic turbulence, hedonism, cultural creativity, democracy under threat… Brecht’s songs with Weill, Eisler, Dessau and his poems are set alight in this new one-off concert as part of NCH’s Perspectives series. Perspectives sees leading international and Irish artists explore contemporary and innovative expressions of music.

In 2001, Gavin Friday – who has a life long interest in Brecht’s work – created the Kurt Weill tribute “Ich Liebe Dich”, juxtaposing 1920s/30s Berlin and 1940s Broadway in a sell-out run at the Dublin Theatre Festival. Five years later he explored German culture in the two-night tribute “Tomorrow Belongs To Me” performed at Dublin’s Liberty Hall.
