Catriona Ryan

Flutist Catriona Ryan studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin and was accepted into the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

After her studies at the RNCM, Catriona was awarded an honours degree as well as Professional Performance Diplomas in both flute and chamber music performance. During her college years Catriona was engaged by various orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera North, Manchester Camerata, Northern Sinfonia and the Halle.

Upon graduation Catriona was offered the position of Sub-Principal Flute/Piccolo with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, and she subsequently won the appointment of Section Leader 1st Flute.

An enthusiastic chamber music player and soloist, Catriona has given recitals with many ensembles and is a founder member of the Cassiopeia Wind Quintet.

Catriona collaborated with the Friday-Seezer Ensemble on the Peter & the Wolf recording for The Irish Hospice Foundation.
