Martin Hayes is an Irish violin player and six times All Ireland Fiddle Champion. He has recorded five albums, three of which with longtime collaborator, guitarist Dennis Cahill. He is regarded one of the most extraordinary talents to emerge in the world of Irish traditional music and has a unique sound which inspired the title of his best known album “The Lonesome Touch”.
Hayes and Cahill collaborated with Gavin Friday and Maurice Seezer in the studio when Friday was preparing for his 4th solo album. Those sessions were never released as Friday and Seezer parted company before the work was finished.
In 2010, Hayes and Cahill accompanied Gavin Friday as he read his selection of W.B. Yeats’ work at the ‘Summer’s Wreath’ festival, a month long celebration of the works of the Irish poet.
